Hi everybody! I have what I think could be an interesting challenge for this weekend.
ansothehobbit made an observation in her lj today that we, as hobbit writers, tend to unconsciously categorize our hobbits. Frodo is angsty, Sam is in awe of gentlefolk, Merry and Pippin are pranksters, and Pippin is slightly clueless.
This isn't every writer, every time, but I think it's a valid observation. So the challenge for this week is to turn things around a bit. Write a story that turns the 'traditional' roles of the hobbits upside down. Whether it's Sam as the prankster, Frodo as an in-over-his-head-youngster, or an unusual pairing of hobbits. Look at how you usually write them, and go a bit sideways from there.
Have fun!
I'm recruiting ideas for next week's challenge so let me know if there is something you would like to do here.
