I hope you'll take a moment to help me out with getting this community going again!

[Poll #1594776]

If you have other ideas, please comment!

In the meanwhile, I plan to start posting links to some of the older stories that have appeared on the community! I hope you will enjoy seeing them once more (or for the first time, if you are new!)

Hi everyone!

[livejournal.com profile] auntiemeesh has given this lovely little community to me, and I'd like to see it revived!

Many of my earliest little stories were written for challenges from this community, and I look forward to getting it going again!

Ideas for possible story challenges are welcome!

Community free to a good home.

It's been over two years since anyone has posted anything here. I hate to see our little community disappear, but I am no longer really able to keep things moving here. If anyone would like to take it on, in whatever form you choose, comment here and I'll set you up as a moderator.

With [livejournal.com profile] marigoldg swamped with real life and at least temporarily, and understandably, unable to continue the Marigold Challenges, [livejournal.com profile] dreamflower02 and I have decided to revamp here and try to fill in the void a bit.

Dreamflower has volunteered to help out and co-moderate, which is a fantastic thing, and there will be some other changes as well. For one, we are in complete agreement that it will work better if the challenges are monthly rather than weekly. There may be some changes in the sorts of challenges or prompts issued, how they're issued, how they're posted, etc. Dreamflower and I are in the process of reworking the userinfo page to reflect the new goals and rules of the community, and we'll get that info up as soon as possible.

The main purpose of this post is to let you all know what's going on, and to get some feedback from you. I know when it's just me trying to think up interesting challenges here, things go nowhere fast. So we'd like to know what you'd like to see coming up. What types of challenges would you like? With this in mind, here's a poll for you.

[Poll #1138768]

We would also like to encourage you to comment with any specific challenges/prompts/plotbunnies you would love to see issued to the community. Dreamflower and I can then use these ideas for the monthly challenges.

So, welcome, once again, to the ever changing [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_ficathon.

Hm, not off to the greatest start here, am I? Sorry about last week - family in town, busy, busy. *slaps wrist*

This week the challenge is to take one of your favorite scenes from a) the book, b) the movie, c) one of your own scenes (or someone else's with permission) and re-write it from a different perspective.

Have fun!

The head wound challenge is officially closed. Thanks to everyone who participated, you wrote some great stories!

This week's challenge is to incorporate at least two of the following three elements into a story: thunderstorm, mallet, and twine. Try not to hammer your thumb or twist yourself into a knot, and have fun!

Here's my entry for this challenge.  I hope it will post.  I am having a devil of a time with the format tonight for some reason.  Anyway, this is post quest.

Has not been beta'd so my apologies for mistakes
Characters are, Frodo, Merry, Pippin, Tom Cotton, and Sam

As I've said before and I'll say again, these are not my hobbits and I am making no money on any of this.

Here is my "head injury" fic! Quite fortunately, JRRT had already inflicted this injury, so I did not need to hurt poor Bilbo any more than he already had been in canon...

Alright, to get things started here, it seems only fair that I contribute something. So, a little (very little) bump-on-the-head fic for all of you.

Title: Lessons Learned
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I don't own these guys and I make no profit off them.
Summary: “Once upon a time, there was a little hobbit who thought that jumping on his bed was the best thing ever. Then he fell off the bed and hit his head on the windowsill, and decided maybe it was better to keep his furry feet on the ground. The end.”

Hello, everyone and happy Saturday! There's been such a kerfluffle here in lj-land this past week or so, and I decided to chime in with my two cents worth. Actually, I have very little to say about Strikethrough '07 except that I've added fandomcommscount to the interest list here and I've joined [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts with my personal lj, because aside from everything else, I think it's pretty darn fascinating to see how many of us there really are out here in lj-land.

Secondly, but no less importantly:

Despite the despicable lack of attention I've paid to this community the last year or so, it is not forgotten. I'm going to make an effort to get us back up and running again.

To that end, I've come up with a challenge for this week, being June 2-9. The challenge is to write a h/c fic, with someone getting a bump on the head. It can be a small little boo-boo that is fixed with a kiss and cuddle, all the way up to serious, life-threatening injuries, and doesn't need to be limited to head injuries, just inclusive of them. You can post your responses any time between and Friday night, at which time this challenge will be closed.

Feel free to pimp this around in your ljs. It's been awhile since there's been any activity here and there's likely to be a bit of inertia to overcome.

Hi all. It's a Friday and I thought, what the hey, I'll wander on over and post a challenge on [livejournal.com profile] hobbit_ficathon, so here I am.

We've got an exhaustion challenge this week. Exhausted hobbits - what has pushed them to the edge and what do they do when they get there?

Hey, look at that, a whole week has gone by and it's challenge time again. This week it's going to be a 'First Time' challenge. It can be anything from Sam's first time helping his dad in the Bag End gardens to the first time Merry and Pippin get together. It can be any genre/category, just remember to mark ratings and any warnings, such as slash.

The End
Monday, June 19th, 2006 01:05 am
This story is for the Hobbit_Ficathon Challenge to write something wildly AU.  I don't know how wild it is, but it is AU.  The characters are Sam, Merry, Pippin and Frodo and this takes place in the same universe as "The Pepsi Saga" did.  Don't panic though, it is only a short story and nothing more.  I do mention one of the LJ characters from "The Pepsi Saga" (Dreamflower) but she isn't exactly in this story.  Enough said save the disclaimer.  Not my Hobbits, no money, sorry for stealing and so forth...
